An emcee announced before the show that Phish would not be performing since they broke up in the dressing room beforehand. Instead, he announced that the show would be performed by “Phish 2000.” Trey teased Buried Alive in Landlady. Possum contained two Charlie Chan signals as well as I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart and Oom Pa Pa signals, while Buried Alive also contained Charlie Chan and I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart signals. My Sweet One contained Mockingbird teases. I Didn't Know featured Fish on trombone. The Bowie intro featured a medley of mostly songs played earlier in the show: Possum, Fly Famous Mockingbird, Forbin's, Divided Sky, Landlady, Mike's Song, The Asse Festival, Lizards, Foam, Harry Hood, and Makisupa. Bowie also included Fire On the Bayou and Wipe Out teases from Mike.

Well I just thought I'd put my thoughts in for this show. At $8 it was a bargain. Boulder was beautiful that evening due to the snow that was falling.

Really thick flakes. The scene was very mellow and small. I think it sold out eventually. The venue was really cool. Just a not too large ball room with a stage set up in the middle of one of the walls. I'd say that the playing was amazing. I loved all the song teases in David Bowie. I don't know how many but they touched on a lot of songs they had played throughout the evening. I remember being real excited about the La Grange. Being my second show, YEM and MIke's Song/ Weekapaug Groove were a blast cause of the trampolines. They did that at my first show so I was excited to see it again. Unfortunately the only music I had of them was a tape of my first show so I didn't know all the songs. After the show the crowd engaged in a playful snowball fight outside. Just a great time and scene.

kedrar I remember this show because one of my best friends was manning the beer booth, since he worked for the University catering service. I drank a bunch of beer that night. I also remember him saying it was one of the best nights he ever had at work since the band was so excellent.

I could swear that they played Run like an antelope, because they dedicated it to Eric Bieniemy, who was a running back at University of Colorado at the time.

thelot Another solid Multi-Track available for night 3 in Colorado. Maybe it was the acoustics in the Glenn Miller Ballroom but this is probably my least favorite recording of the bunch. With that said, it’s still one of the best sounding recordings from this time period.

An MC starts off by going over upcoming events and informing the audience that Phish broke up backstage before the show. “Phish 2000!” took their place. On a side note, looking forward, I love how Fish references the band as “Phish 2000” at Cypress. It’s also interesting that the band broke up (took a hiatus) in 2000. Golgi starts things off and it takes a bit for the recording mix to settle into a good spot. Landlady>Bouncin’ seems to be the new pair following DaaM>Bouncin’. Nice Sky. Strong mid set Mike’s Groove. Beautiful version of Esther. Possum seamlessly moves into Buried Alive following an I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart signal during the opening segment. They transition back into Possum and deliver a fire version to close out the first half.

Suzy opens up the second half. It’s not as strong as Armstrong Halls version but also features Fish calling out “a neurologist?!?” again. Cl. Forbin>Mockingbird has no Mockingbird rap. Mockingbird is teased during the MSO intro. Great YEM with a fantastic vocal jam! The hardest working man is show business plays his bone during I Didn’t Know. The Bowie to follow is well known to most. I must say I haven’t heard this set since my cassette trading days. The teases during the hi-hat hijinx are masterful. The jam doesn’t go too far off the beaten path but it’s tight as f@$ck! What a way to close a set! The Lawn Boy, La Grange encore was a nice way to end a fire set.

Review by Fathership

Fathership This stellar show begins with little charisma as the band runs through several average (but not poorly played) hits before a ripping Mike's Groove. The Weekapaug in particular is madness. Things turn to 11 for the rest of the show. A nice Esther leads to a slow, funky Cavern. The set closing Possum is shredded by Trey and takes a detour into Buried Alive during the intro. It's a little jarring but very fun. Nice set, hear the Groove and the Possum if nothing else.

Set two begins with a short Suzy and a bare but nicely played Forbin's. The next two tunes are great but what you'll take away from this set is the monster YEM. Sublime, tight playing and cooperation from everyone as well as thrilling solos from Trey make this one to grab. Sweet vocal jam, too. Lizards, IDK, and a teasefest Bowie close this set in fine form. A slick Lawn Boy and a rousing La Grange round out the show nicely. Generally above average playing throughout and a few soaring highlights make this a four star show. Also, the SBD is real easy on the ears.

Review by KingDisco

KingDisco I am surprised by how little notice this show is getting. I really enjoyed this. Pretty average to above average for most of the show. Possum jam as good as advertised. After a really really tight Foam, the second set ends in a smoking hot fashion. The YEM is about as good as it gets so early. The set ends with an awesome tease heavy Bowie. Check out this early gem, it's rocking with a delicious SBD.
