First set opens with Harpua. Second set opens with No
Dogs. ;)
YEM starts immediately as the last note of Mockingbird
finishes. A bit upbeat. Opening segment is ok.. Mike's
solo section is arguably more upbeat than usual. Trey
botches the Second Note in the Pre-Charge segment badly,
even though he sortof makes up for it with the jamming he
does before the charge. "Boy" comes in at about 5 mins.
At around 7:09, Page starts up his solo, and Mike and Trey
are on tramps for this given what he's doing on the bass
(sounds like the signals), Trey's silence, and the crowd
reaction. Anyone out there at any of these shows? My
first show was 10/6, but they didn't play YEM!!! Trey
doesn't come in at all until 8:40 or so. AT ALL -- and
then he's only hitting a note or two. (Page is jamming
well throughout, as usual.. Mike is funking along) If
they were on the tramps, they are definitely off them by 9
minutes... Maybe they weren't on tramps but were just
bouncing up and down? (a la Divided Sky)
Trey breaks out at 9:14 or so. Some great, reasonably
thematic, melodious jamming in here.. fantastic
accompaniment, too. Damn. Smokin' soloing from Trey ...
not as severely rocknroll-ish as 5/28/89, but great all
the same.
Bass and drums at 12:04 or so. Mike is fairly upbeat...
good stuff from Fish. At 12:38 WUDMTF closing segment
kicks in (as you know, in these old versions, this segment
was accompanied by Fish and Mike until the vocal jam.. and
then just Fish for the first 30 seconds or so of the vocal
jam). WUDMTF dissolves into the vocal jam.. Fish drops
out at 13:32. Vocal jam is, well, the vocal jam (I
couldn't describe these well, even if I tried really
hard). I'll say that this vocal jam is perhaps more akin
to Small Furry Creatures (Floyd) than the vast majority of
vocal jams that I've heard.. Oh Kee Pah kicks right in
after the vocal jam, which ended around 15:45 or so. (?) (C rating)
