If you were at or know anyone who was at this show, please be in
touch.  Or if you go to this school.. I'm curious as to what the hell
"Chez Pierre" is.  I assume it is a nickname for the dining hall.

Before this version begins (it opens the second set!), Trey modestly
yells "YEM" (if you've ever wondered whether it was pronounced Y-E-M
or (as a one syllable word) simply "YeahM" by the band, Trey says it
as one word, i.e., YEM). In the opening segment, during Mike's bass
solo section (around 3 mins in this version), Trey yells "YEEEeeahm"
again.  :)  YEM's opening segment had been basically composed in toto
by 1989, and so this opening is basically the same as the openings you
hear in versions today (but this isn't as tight, and is perhaps a
touch slower, than versions you hear today).  There's also no
charmingly melodious "pre-Nirvana" segment in these old versions.

"Boy" at 5:36 after an ok scream.  BMGS/WUDMTF segment begins as you'd
expect (in case you were wondering, they say "Wash Uffizi, Drive Me To
Firenze" in this section of YEM, not "Would you please help me find
acid?" or "What is your fee to Firenze?" or "Washa Uffizi and Drive Me
to Firenze" or "Water your team in a beehive I'm a sent you".. It is
endlessly amusing, of course, for you to think otherwise... so go
ahead and keep telling your friends that they say "Wash your feets
they drive me to a frenzy").  Page jams pretty well in this section on
the organ... but it is otherwise rather Standard.

At 9:17 the jam segment begins with Trey sustaining and reverberating
a Note in a fiendish manner.  He begins steadily soloing overtop a
very kind groove that Page, Fish and particularly Mike provide.  He
isn't very active (see those late May 89 YEMs for some hell-bent
soloing from Trey), but he still manages to noodle proficiently and
sufficiently melodiously to turn heads in the audience (I'm sure).
Compared to versions of today, this YEM jam segment is juvenile and
sad (and I imagine that Trey would concur)...  but fun!!

At 12:18 Mike funks away with Fish (bass and drums segment).  There's
some accompaniment from Trey and Page in here, too, unlike versions of
today, but it is very modest.  Nothing too special -- just typically
groovy, funky YEM 'doc-smacking.

At 13:29 the closing WUDMTF segment kicks in... with everyone still
providing accompaniment as the segue into the vocal jam begins
(13:50).  Everyone soon drops out (Fish last).  Trey appears to
mention "Bob Seger" a few times early on in this vocal jam, which
doesn't last at all long. Total time appears to be a mere 14:36.  "C"
rating.  If you are wondering why I reviewed this, so am I.  It's an
older version.. it is also one of a mere handful of versions
introduced by Trey as "YEM" (one syllable pronunciation).  So let this
be a lesson to all those who have spent YEARS wondering whether it was
pronounced "Y" "E" "M" or simply "YEM."  ;-)
