2/19/93 The Roxy, Atlanta, GA Opening pretty standard. Another sortof
long pre-Nirvana lead-up, but this one isn't as
pretty as the other 2/93 YEMs I've reviewed (btw, I only have 2/3,
2/7, 2/13 and 2/19, so if you have any others around this
period, please review them!). Mike's solo ain't anything ear-catching,
either, like the rest of these first few minutes. The
pre-charge is strong as usual, and the Notes are hit well.. nothing
unusually impressive, however. Pretty blah opening, given the
other 2/93 versions. "Boy" at 6:58 after a truly frightening scream
from Trey. WUDMTF segment is upbeat and typically good.
No outrageous jamming in here, though. The opening of the tramps segment
contains some latin-jamming from Page at first
(reminded me of the CSN song "Fair Game," actually). Typically groovy
tramps jam.. Page is pretty active, but not
exceptionally so. Mike is throwing out the signals.. Good tramps jam.
Jam segment begins at 11:19, and Page lets loose some
Oye Como Va chords on the piano.. Trey just noodles around, though,
at first in here, in patently typical YEM jam segment
fashion. Ooooouu.. but at 12:10 or so he starts getting more aggressive..
Non-stop rockstar Trey in here.. extremely active,
smokin' wailing away! Hard core YEM jamming, even though it isn't especially
melodious. Trey just tears it up in the closing
minute, as usual... typical accompaniment from the others. B&D
at 14:47 or so. Mike is snappy and quick.. nice theme he's on
in here, too. Very active, throbbing accompaniment from Fish, too.
A very siiiick groove from Mike, too. I love it when Mike
really let's loose in the B&D.. agh.. gets kinda slow towards the
end. Final WUDMTF segment at 16:16. Vocal jam kicks in at
16:31. I hear "Time for bed" in here.. another chanting ending. Actually,
they do the *SAME* vocal medley thingy that they did
in a 1992 version... on "GO".. but it is brief, and Yamar -> out at
21:11. A very upbeat Yamar, too! Niiiice.. B- rating for this
above average but not all that sweet YEM.
