Just 40 minutes...it was a beautiful day, such fun to dance in the
sun, but Phish's set was again *way* too short.

Though it's been fun to watch them playing with Santana, and some
incredible music has happened this way, I'm glad that the next shows
we see will be more than just a taste!

I was at the Cal Expo show this past weekend (Hi Matt, Shelly+ Bud).
I had a couple of thoughts to pass on about the show.

First, how about that Run Like An Antalope!?!!! I thought the first half
jam, before the singing starts, was one of the weirdest and wildest I've
heard.

The second and main thing was my feelings during the portion of the
Santana show when Phish was on stage. I was watching Trey and Carlos
playing up there and it came to me that I was watching the tourch being
passed from one generation to the next. This is what it is all about
you know. I got kind of choaked up at the thought. This feeling
reoccured when the children were on stage playing rhythm.

I thought the crowd was real nice. There were very distinct groups
of people there to see each of the different bands. I was told about the
Indigo Girl fans that were up on the rail during Phish looking bored as
hell
practicing throwing roses on to the stage. Obviously there was the pretty
big crowd to see Phish. The general population seemed to be into seeing
Santana. I had a real good time. 8')

I was quite bummed (pissed off is more like it :^|) by some ticket related
things
at this show though. I managed to miss the first two songs of the Phish
set because
my ticket said the show started at 2:30 and I was in just about 2:35. I
hear that
during this whole Santana tour they have been pulling this trick. Bongo
tells
me that he saw tickets at Shoreline with *three* different starting times;
7:00,
7:30, and 8:00. Yes, these tickets were real.
Also when I bought my ticket the person selling the ticket said the only
tickets they
had were the resurved bleacher seats! I later found that there were
plenty
of gen admission field tickts for a couple bucks less. And talking about
a couple of bucks less, I find out that after paying $28.50 for my ticket
they started selling tickets at $12 because they weren't selling as many
as
they had planned. I thought I should have been considerd a sponser
and received a backstage pass or something 8') .

Oh well. It was still a real good time.

Hello all.

Just got back from a roadtrip from Seattle to California to catch
the final Phish/Santana shows at Shoreline in Mountain View and at
Cal Expo in Sacramento. Man, these were awesome shows. Too bad
the Phish sets were really short. Lessee...that makes 28 hours of driving
in a weekend for about 80 minutes of Phish...I think that's worth it.

So how come they bypassed the great Northwest on this tour?

I think we should try to get Phish to play at Bumbershoot next year, or
with Santana again at the Gorge in George. Does anybody in the Phish
organization monitor this net, or should we send requests to the
newsletter
address?

I enjoyed seeing Carlos crack up at Fishman playing the vacuum cleaner.
Was I the only one that thought the Cal Expo vacuum solo was way better
than the previous night?

By the way, Hi, Alec, Leslie, and Hank. It was great seeing you guys.

I also really liked the electrolux solo at Cal Expo.
Thought it really fit the groove. And watching Carlos
watch Fishman was great!

Yes, definitely. High gear was definitely the place
to be on Sunday.

I was thinking something similar about the exchange
of musical cultures. I really liked it when Santana,
Phish, and the Los Lobos dudes were all jammin.
Watching three groups who play such very different music
come together was great! If only the Indigos had
joined them on stage...

My (series) tickets said 8:30! Fortunetly, phishnet
and others had alerted us to the early show start.
BTW, its always a good idea to confirm show times and
lineup with the venue. Lyle Lovett was scheduled with
a "special guest" at the Warfield a few weeks ago.
Those who skipped the opening band were certainly
disappointed to find out that Lyle and his big band
did the entire show themselves.

Absolutely!
