The opening to this MikeS is standard. Trey teases
Oye Como Va (Santana) in the tremendously powerful
jam segment. This jam has a lot of energy, and
hasn't got the usual amount of off-key sustain boring
stuff (although there is certainly some of it in
here). Trey is much more active in this version than
he used to be. Very spoooky and ominous (dare I say
eerie), but I'm glad it ended where it did, because I
really wasn't impressed by this MikeS. It didn't go
anywhere. H2 kicks in at 7:09 or so. Trey teases a
theme from a musical, that I should know, but cannot
name (it ain't JC superstar, one of my faves..). He
teases it before the H2 theme kicks in. At least I
think this tease is from a musical. Someone want to
publicly reveal the origination of this tease?
The trip to Weekapaug begins at just before the 10
min point, and Mike's opening is even faster and
snappier than usual. What a great opening! This
Weekapaug really smokes, too, and has an outrageous
amount of energy. At just after 14 mins, though, it
drops into one of those quiet modes, wherein which
they still jam, but jam quietly, and steadily
crescendo back into a solid (and loud) Weekapaug
jam. Page and Trey really wail in this "quiet
mode", though. Well, I wish this jam went on a lot
longer than it did, but it was a very tight, solid,
kickass Weekapaugh. Can't say anything more.
Nothing weird. Total time 17:36 or so. Rating 6.0.
